The Frankfurt/Main-based hotel group InterCityHotel GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Steigenberger Hotels, will be working in future with the internationally operative project developer PORR Solutions Immobilien- und Infrastrukturprojekte GmbH.
The cooperation agreement is already signed and sealed. In the coming years around 15 InterCityHotels are to be developed in attractive locations across Central and Eastern Europe. Major transport hubs such as railway stations and airports, along with downtown locations, are being targeted. The highly reputed project developer PORR Solutions, a subsidiary of the international PORR AG corporation, will tap into and develop the locations, with InterCityHotel managing the hotels under a lease.
Joachim Marusczyk, general manager of InterCityHotel GmbH: “Demand for upper middle-bracket hotels is growing with the progressive economic emergence of Central and Eastern Europe. The number of business travellers in the east European countries has risen considerably, which is why we are convinced of our brand’s great potential there. We have found a partner in PORR AG that can ideally support our growth strategy.” Karl-Heinz Strauss, CEO of PORR AG, adds: “CEE remains a growth region. So now is just the right time to expand in those countries. We look forward to working with InterCityHotel.” Initial locations are already being reviewed. The property consultancy Immologie GmbH Behrendt & Walker in Frankfurt/Main is acting as project development partner and consultant.
As a fully-owned subsidiary of Steigenberger Hotels, InterCityHotel currently operates 32 hotels in Germany and Austria.
