There is every good reason to be calm in Stuttgart. The ICS International Congress Center Stuttgart is well-equipped to cope in future with any consequences of the reallocation of radio frequencies by the German Federal Network Agency (BNA). In summer 2011 Messe Stuttgart applied to the BNA for new radio frequencies for the entire Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre, thus ensuring that it can also offer its customers the best possible quality in event technology in future.
Due to the network expansion of the new LTE mobile communications technology, the radio frequencies previously reserved for wireless microphones will be available exclusively to the mobile communications industry from 2015 onwards. Parallel operation is not possible – interference in wireless microphone systems would be the result. “We give maximum priority to functioning event technology“, said Stefan Lohnert, Division Director of Guest Events at Messe Stuttgart. “We therefore reacted immediately and excluded any risk of interference in our wireless microphones by individually assigning fixed radio frequencies throughout the entire Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre.“ Neumann & Müller, the authorised partner of Messe Stuttgart with DPVT SR 6.0 certification, also prepared itself for the new situation and therefore also makes an important contribution towards quality assurance in the ICS. N&M also invested in new radio microphone systems and can transmit on all available frequencies in the frequency range from 710 to 790 MHz.
The Congress Technology Department of Messe Stuttgart used the conversion to new radio links to further optimise the quality of the equipment. As from now, the ICS contains 50 state-of-the-art wireless systems from Sennheiser that also have additional expansion reserves. All media equipment in the ICS therefore complies with the highest technology and safety standards. “In 2012 we are expecting a very busy year in our venue”, said Lohnert. “We are well-equipped to cope with this in every respect.“
