Israeli hotel chain set for expansion

First Leonardo Hotel 2012 in Vienna

Following Germany, Israel, Belgium, Hungary and Switzerland, Leonardo Hotels are now also positioning themselves in Vienna. Mid-2012 the Israeli hotel chain will open the first Leonardo Hotel in Austria – the three-star-superior Leonardo Hotel Vienna.

"With Vienna we have been able to add another important location in Europe to our hotel portfolio," says Daniel Roger, General Manager Leonardo Hotels Europe. "Extensive refurbishment under the guidance of hotel interior designer Andreas Neudahm will transform the property into a modern, fresh lifestyle and business hotel." It is scheduled to reopen in July 2012. The rebuild is being financed by the IMMOFINANZ Group, the owner of the hotel property. "We are very pleased to have gained Leonardo Hotels as a strong partner for this attractive location. Together we will place a further landmark in the emerging district around Vienna's recently reopened Westbahnhof railway station," Manfred Wiltschnigg, a member of the IMMOFINANZ Group's management board, insists.

The future Leonardo Hotel Vienna is centrally located right on Europaplatz square, just 100 metres from Vienna's main shopping street, Mariahilfer Strasse. When the alterations are complete it will feature 213 guestrooms and three meeting rooms measuring up to 100 m². A spacious, open lobby is planned, combining the bar, restaurant and lounge into an amply sized foyer.

In order to establish a reference to Vienna and its sights notwithstanding the purist language of form and modern design idiom, artworks are being created especially for the hotel; they will be placed throughout the property in different sizes, taking scenes typical of Vienna as their themes. Renowned the world over, Vienna's charm and cosiness will place its proverbial stamp on the atmosphere in the hotel, ensuring that guests enjoy a relaxing stay, with the new bedroom product playing a major part. For this Andreas Neudahm has chosen warm shades of red, set off by lime-green effects in the cushions, wall hangings and decoration. An absolutely unique feature will be the business section extending over two floors, its rooms specially attuned to business travellers' needs. The business rooms boast roomy workplaces and extra-comfortable desk seating, so-called "Relax Chairs". Their colour scheme will convey a particularly elegant and distinguished ambience.

Business travellers staying at the new Leonardo Hotel Vienna will also benefit from a conference section suffused in light with its own separate access, foyer and an extra pantry.
