Social seating

KLM launches Meet & Seat

KLM claims to be the first airline to integrate social networking into its regular flight process with the launch of its new Meet & Seat service on selected flights. Passengers with a reservation can see who else is on board, but only after they have linked their Facebook or LinkedIn profile to their flight.

Passengers interested can log on to Manage my Booking at www.klm.de using the booking code and select Meet and Seat. They are then requested to enter their Facebook or LinkedIn account information (name and password).

After that they can decide what personal information they would like to share with other passengers and see on the seating map what information other passengers have provided about themselves. On the strength of this they can then choose a seat. The new service is available from 90 days to 48 hours prior to departure. KLM is piloting the project on the routes fromAmsterdamtoSan Francisco,New YorkandSão Pauloand later plans to extend it to other international connections.
