The Meeting Experts Conference (MEXCON 2012) scheduled to be staged in Berlin from June 18 through 20 of this year has added two more high-profile lecturers to its list of speakers: Peter Hintze, parliamentary undersecretary of state at the federal ministry for economics and technology, will officially greet guests and open the conference on Tuesday, June 19, 2012.
On that same day, professor Günter Verheugen, formerly vice-president of the European Commission responsible for enterprise and industry and today honorary professor at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder, will hold his keynote speech to attune attendees to the event. He will focus his thoughts onEurope's future role in the world of business and science.
The MEXCON 2012 is the summit meeting of the German event industry: nine trade associations of the congress, convention, incentive and event industries for the first time have invited to a joint trade congress. The GCB German Convention Bureau e. V. and the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC) are the initiators of the Meeting Experts Conference. The three-day event at the ICC Internationales Congress CentrumBerlincombines the annual general assemblies and board meetings of the participating associations with seminars, an exhibition and a gilt-edged trade congress on the event industry in 2030.
On June 20 of this year,Berlin's senator for economics, technology, and research Sybille von Obernitz and Burkhard Kieker, managing director of visitBerlin, will greet the participants. Next, Petra Hedorfer, chairwoman of the board of the Deutsche Zentrale für Tourismus e.V. (GNTB) and chairwoman of the GCB administration board, will present her opinions on the present status and future developments in business traveling in context with expos and congresses.
The third MEXCON day will be focused on the issue of howGermanywill look in 2030 in the fields of economy, sciences, technology, and innovations and which effects this will have on the events industry. A discussion forum chaired by TV host Christoph Teuner will have various experts take a look into the future: Prof. Dr. Detlev Ganten, chairman of the Charité board of trustees, Dr. Peter M. Steiner, project manager "Science Express" / "Science Tunnel" / "Science Gallery" of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, Harry Gatterer, executive director of the Zukunftsinstitut Österreich, and Dr. Ellen Ueberschär, secretary general of the German Protestant Church Convention DEKT will discuss conceivable developments until 2030 and their potential effects upon events.
The initiators used the considerable interest in the panel discussion as an opportunity to sell one-day tickets for Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at a price of EUR 149. As before, in addition to the one-day ticket for Wednesday there is also the congress ticket for the entire MEXCON, which is available to members of the inviting associations for EUR 249 Euro and to non-members for EUR 299.
