Hotel investors keeping their focus on Russia

The hotel building business in Russia is advancing in giant leaps. According to statements by the industry database provider Tophotelprojects, a total of 127 new first-class and luxury hotels are scheduled to open within the next three years. Prime hotel development areas here the capital city ofMoscow(17 hotel projects) andSochion theBlack Sea(19 projects), where the 22nd Winter Olympics will be hosted in February 2014.

Market leaders are the hotel chains Hilton with altogether 27 new hotel projects inRussiaand Carlson Rezidor with 30 new hotels in the forecast. The lifestyle-business-hotel with 297 rooms (including 40 suites) and 56 luxury apartments will open in 2015 next to the Dynamo Moscow sports arena.

InSochion the "Russian Riviera", more than 6,000 new hotel rooms will be inaugurated in the next two year. It is yet unclear which effects this enormous increase in bed capacity will have for the region after the Winter Olympics are over, but hotel investors inRussiaheard the call of President Putin and set up numerous operations at theBlack Seacoast.
