Concertgebouw Bruges

EUPLAN Conference

c jan dhondt

Bruges welcomes the 4th EUPLAN Conference from 19 until 21 September 2018. More than 150 platelet specialists and young researchers from the whole continent will attend the conference at the Concertgebouw in Bruges.

The meeting of the European Platelet Network (EUPLAN 2018) is an excellent and very international scientific event. EUPLAN aims to provide the latest update on platelets in their diverse functions, by bringing together platelet specialists and young researchers from the whole continent. Platelets are best known for their role in hemostasis where they restrict bleeding. However, platelets also are the cellular mediator of arterial thrombosis, leading to myocardial infarction and stroke, representing the most common causes of mortality and morbidity in the western world. Major efforts are continuously undertaken to understand platelet formation and clearance and activation and inhibition mechanisms that finally might lead to the development of new antiplatelet drugs that would meet the most sought-after requirement: to inhibit the platelet contribution to thrombosis without increasing bleeding.

”Bruges has so much to offer for medical conferences, with all the medical heritage in our city”, says Sarah Cornand, Sales Manager Meeting in Brugge. “We’re very excited that the EUPLAN local organizing committee has chosen Bruges as the destination for the EUPLAN Conference.”
