Exhibitions are to be possible in Bavaria again from September 1, 2021 at the latest. This date gives an important signal because, for IAA Mobility (September 7 to 12), the sales team is "still in the process", Messe Munich boss Klaus Dittrich admitted and added that many exhibitors are feeling the lack of planning certainty. Now they have it.

In a hybrid press conference, state minister Hubert Aiwanger therefore stressed the importance of exhibitions: "They are the best economic stimulus programme and are urgently needed. Restarting the exhibition business can make a decisive contribution to overcoming the economic fallout from the covid pandemic in many industries. For that reason, it is important to provide exhibition organisers, exhibitors and visitors with planning certainty for successful resumption of trade fairs."

Many industries, especially those directly dependent on exhibitions in Bavaria, have long craved the restart in September: It's the day that companies have been working towards. "The relief is palpable throughout Nuremberg – in hospitality, catering and retail! Many businesses have suffered significantly over the past 16 months, as exhibitions and conferences bring in purchasing power to the tune of one billion euros just in the Nuremberg metropolitan region", Peter Ottmann, CEO NürnbergMesse Group, said at the press conference.

The two exhibition bosses were unanimous in emphasising that they would renew the ambition pursued before the pandemic from September 1. Germany was the most important location for exhibitions in the world – and will be again. The twelve-month setback will be made good. "The opportunities are there", Dittrich and Ottmann agreed. They also concurred in their appraisal of digital offerings and formats. Peter Ottmann: "If the concepts are right, exhibitions will be entering into new marriages." Klaus Dittrich is convinced: "Exhibitions will retain their importance in the marketing mix and may even expand it."
