trade show was the last international business events before the pandemic, and among the first to take place in person after more than a year of hibernation in the meetings industry. The organisers had moved Conventa 2021 from January to 23 to 27 August 2021 and combined it with the Conventa Crossover conference. They took special precautions to prevent the spread of Sars-Cov-2 by strictly following the guidelines of the "Safe and Healthy Meetings & Events" certificate.
Conventa and Conventa Crossover were half the size as usually and held in a hybrid format. 77 exhibitors, 113 international and 33 Slovenian hosted buyers conducted more than 2.000 business meetings over the two-day trade show. Conventa started on 23 August 2021 with familiarisation trips to Ljubljana, Bled and Styria. The visits continued after the event to Istria, Kranjska Gora, Portorož, Zagreb and Salzburg. The hosted buyers met the exhibitors at the welcome reception in the Grand Hotel Union. The programme continued with One-2-One-meetings. The exhibitors like hotels, convention centres and bureaus joined the event from 13 countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
"Thirteen is my lucky number. It has been with me all my life and it brings me happiness. I hope the 13th Conventa Experience also brought happiness to all the participants who celebrated the meetings industry in Slovenia last week,“ said Miha Kovačič, Co-Founder of Conventa.
One highlight of the Conventa Week was the selection of the best events in Central and Eastern Europe. From 18 projects which made it into the finals, four winners were selected; the best B2B, B2C, B21 and Crossover event. Furthermore, five special awards were given out at the award ceremony. Attendees were able to support their favourite event agency by joining the live voting session. The final took place in the Švicarija Creative Centre in Ljubljana’s Tivoli Park.
The award for the Best B2B Event went to Feel Sloveni@Business Date, a series of virtual business tourism events, bringing together foreign tour operators and tourist agents with the representatives of the Slovenian tourism industry. The event was organised by the Slovenian Tourist Board.
The organisers closed off the week with the Conventa Crossover conference, which maintained its position as the central Think Tank of the meetings industry in Central and Eastern Europe creating a space to test innovations and respond to industry challenges for the sixth year running.
„We are very proud that we have been able to bring Conventa and Conventa Crossover to fruition in the midst of the pandemic. Our aim was to prove that events can take place even in complex situations.“
"We are very proud that we have been able to bring Conventa and Conventa Crossover to fruition in the midst of the pandemic. Our aim was to prove that events can take place even in complex situations. Hybrid solutions have made it possible to carry out events regardless of the situation,“ said Conventa Crossover's Founder Gorazd Čad. He added: „Conventa brings optimism and points to the future direction of the industry. Many say that Conventa was the light at the end of the tunnel.“Conventa 2022
