Sabina Linke has been managing the EVVC – European Association of Event Centers since 1 February 2023.
The EVVC – European Association of Event Centers has appointed Sabina Linke as its new managing director. Linke has held various management positions at NürnbergMesse and succeeds Timo Feuerbach.
Sabina Linke has been familiar with the event industry for many years and most recently held various management positions at NürnbergMesse. She succeeds Timo Feuerbach, who has left the EVVC at his own request.
The central task of the new managing director is the political representation of interests and lobbying on behalf of the EVVC – European Association of Event Centers. Making the event industry more visible in society, business and politics is a significant goal of the EVVC. This is especially true against the backdrop of the numerous challenges of the present and future, such as the war in Ukraine, the energy and climate crisis, and economic instability.
Challenges of the present and future
"Alongside this, the challenges are digitization and sustainability and what the permanent adjustments to the design of events look like in the present and in the future, and how we have already adjusted or must continue to adjust," says Sabina Linke. She also puts the shortage of staff and skilled workers on her agenda. "Only if we take notice of the issues of the new, the current and the experienced event professionals can we ward off their migration to supposedly more attractive industries." Linke adds: "We are missing the people who make events possible in the first place – not primarily as customers, but rather as doers, as event managers, as hosts."
The new EVVC managing director describes herself as a communicator and passionate networker, sees herself more as a designer and less as an administrator. In her new role as a mediator between the interests and supporter of the voluntary board, she wants to contribute to the further development of the EVVC and define solutions for the challenges in the event industry.
