The Chairman of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau
(MyCEB), Hon. Dato’ Dr. Noor Zari Hamat has announced the appointment of Noor Ahmad Hamid as the new Chief Operating Officer of the convention bureau.
“On behalf of MyCEB’s Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome Noor Ahmad as our new Chief Operating Officer. With his vast experience, knowledge, and passion for the business events industry, we firmly believe that he will be able to steer MyCEB as one of the best models of convention bureau in the world. His appointment will be timely to strengthen the recently launched Malaysia’s Business Events Strategic Marketing Plan 2021-2030 and also other initiatives to rebuild the business events industry now and post-pandemic,” said Dato’ Dr. Noor Zari Hamat.
Noor Ahmad will be responsible in enhancing the strategic direction, community collaboration and operational processes. Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, the CEO of MyCEB stated that “the new role of Chief Operating Officer reflects our commitment to significantly grow and improve the bureau’s endeavors. Since he joined us, Noor Ahmad has demonstrated all the qualities necessary to assume leadership and I am delighted to acknowledge his contribution to our business in this manner.”
With his vast experience of more than 35 years, Noor Ahmad is a highly respected and well-known member of the business events and tourism industry globally. He first started his career in Tourism Malaysia in the early 1980’s, before moving to the corporate sector and the association community. Prior to MyCEB, he was the Regional Director Asia Pacific for the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), where he served for more than 11 years. During his tenure with ICCA, he turned the Asia Pacific regional office into a Global Research Centre, initiated an annual AP Summit and helped grow the Asia Pacific Chapter as the largest in ICCA’s global membership.

(Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau) was established in 2009 by Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Malaysia to further strengthen Malaysia’s business tourism brand and position for the international business events market. A non-profit organisation, MyCEB serves as a central hub to assist meeting and event planners to bid and stage international business events in Malaysia and act as a conduit for national product development. In April 2021, MyCEB mapped out the way forward for Malaysia in business events with the launch of ‘Malaysia’s Business Events Strategic Marketing Plan 2021 - 2030’. Emphasizes on three strategic axes to expand performance namely optimisation, foresight and competitiveness. These strategic anchors are applied in implementing, planning, and monitoring all initiatives collaboratively with the industry.
