With around 100 days to go before the trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances IFA opens in Berlin, a new dual leadership has taken up its post: David Ruetz and Kai Mangelberger take over the helm.

The dual heads Ruetz und Mangelberger take over from IFA directors Jens Heithecker und Dirk Koslowski. As head of ITB Berlin, the leading reference fair for the global travel industry, experienced communications expert Ruetz brings his broad know-how for developing successful, global B2B projects to this new appointment.

The ITB made constructive use of the time of the coronavirus pandemic to digitalise further, and with has created a central platform for the global tourism community. As senior vice president of IFA 2022, over the next few months Ruetz will be the IFA's central contact for the market's key players. "I will be able to rely on the expertise of the IFA project team. My colleagues have been familiar with this market for many years and in the past have repeatedly shown that Messe Berlin knows how to do live events. Here in the capital, we are offering our international visitors a platform for good business, networking and a good overview of trends", David Ruetz states.

David Ruetz will share the team management post with Kai Mangelberger, director of IFA 2022. Mangelberger brings 20 years of event expertise to the position. Of those, he spent ten years with the world reference fair InnoTrans, latterly as deputy director, before taking over a management position at the leading trade fair for the global fruit trade, Fruit Logistics, last autumn.

Only recently, Jens Heithecker was discharged from his duties as IFA executive director. The reason for Heithecker's removal: He apparently disclosed insider information to former Messe Berlin boss Christian Göke. The latter belongs to a consortium that would like to reshape the IFA, but not necessarily in Berlin. The IFA 2022 takes place from September 2 to 6 in Berlin.
