Messe Düsseldorf is continuing to work its way out of the consequences of the pandemic and is expecting only a low minus for 2022. Messe Düsseldorf has already succeeded in limiting its losses in the second pandemic year in a row.

Wolfram N. Diener, president & CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, says: "Our strategic re-positioning, the austerity measures and the largely abolished COVID restrictions are starting to produce an effect: we are slowly but surely recovering from the pandemic."

For 2021, the results of the group at 108.7 million euro are being corrected to be slightly higher than the preliminary figures published in February 2022 (102 million euro). Messe Düsseldorf GmbH also generated a result of 96.1 million euro above the original forecast (93 million euro). Accordingly, the loss situation is developing more positively than forecast: The GmbH has posted a loss of 22.3 million euro compared with the just under 25 million euro expected (previous year: -43.5 million euro).

There is also a positive trend in the equity capital ratio. The group of companies has managed to increase it slightly to 63.6 percent (previous year: 62.2 percent). The GmbH also posted a slight increase to 61.4 percent (pervious year: 60.1 percent), giving the company a stable basis for operative business. Despite the expected recovery, Messe Düsseldorf expects a "manageable minus" for financial year 2022, too, according to CEO Diener. "Provided circumstances develop in a stable manner, we should be able to double results."
