The watch and jewellery show scheduled for spring 2022 in Basle will not be taking place. The MCH Group needs more time to launch the event with the new concept. The exhibition organisers explain the cancellation with experience with the pop-up event at the Geneva Watch Days in August and with intensive discussions with manufacturers and retailers, which apparently did not go precisely as expected. Moreover, the worsening of the COVID situation again and the associated uncertainty among customers is not exactly helpful for starting a new concept for a new target segment.
„Their needs must be analysed in more detail.“
Beat Zwahlen, CEO der MCH Group: "The market exists for a B:B:C platform that brings together medium-sized and specialised manufacturers with independent retailers. But their needs must be analysed in more detail. This means we need to have significantly more time to get there." The goal remains to create added value for the community's business in its target markets with the internationally established Baselworld brand and innovative platforms. The MCH Group will no doubt also need time to reappoint the position of "managing director of Baselworld", as Michel Loris-Melikoff has left the company.
