Before the 2017 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition, the ASAE Board received updates on ASAE’s new event Xperience Design Project (XDP), expansion of ASAE Learning Online, updates on the ASAE Foundation research agenda, and a new platform for risk management for associations. The board passed the budget for Fiscal Year 2018 (FY 18). ASAE staff talked about the strategic direction of XDP and lessons learned. Staff provided updates on several new initiatives. With ASAE Learning Online, ASAE will introduce group accounts that will give associations the ability to form teams within the system, and there will be new multi-course learning pathways and expanding to nearly 300 course offerings in FY 18. On Monday, ASAE will launch a new platform called ASAE Insurance Source, which will help associations manage their operational and governance risks.
The ASAE Foundation has new organizational assessments that will provide associations the opportunity to look at their global maturity and technology readiness within the AssociaMetrics platform. They also have a new research initiative called, ASAE ForesightWorks. It will examine trends impacting associations and provide tools and resources to help organizations understand the implications as well as integrate key aspects into their work.
One of the new projects in early 2018 is a pilot Innovation Lab, in collaboration with ASAE corporate partner Visit Salt Lake. It will be a two-day event in Salt Lake City, in conjunction with the Sundance Film Festival. Three associations will bring teams, of up to six people each, to work on a challenge using design thinking techniques. The groups will generate and evaluate potential solutions and leave with a prototype.
