Ispo Munich and Outdoor by Ispo are shifting to new dates permanently. Together with leading sports and outdoor brands, retailers, and industry associations, Messe München has decided to hold Ispo Munich at the end of November when the winter season begins, instead of the previous January date. Outdoor by Ispo is moving up from the end of June to the end of May/beginning of June. For 2022, that means: no Ispo Munich in January. It will not take place until November 28 to 30 and has therefore been shortened from four to three days. The new date for Outdoor by Ispo will be June 12 to 14, 2022.
„When the industry changes, we also have to find new ways. “
The trade fair organisers explain the shift in dates by far-reaching market changes in recent years. Industry and retail are facing major shifts in the global supply chain, which has also caused changes to order cycles. An Ispo Munich scheduled in January and February is therefore too late for many industry participants. The earlier date for Outdoor by Ispo also works much better with the new order cycles. "When the industry changes, we also have to find new ways," says Klaus Dittrich, CEO of Messe München. The new dates offer new opportunities for industry and retail: inspiring and activating at the start of the season.
In addition, Messe München is introducing a maximum booth size for both events. In future, a maximum of 150 square metres of booth size is planned for Outdoor by Ispo and a maximum of 200 square metres of booth size per exhibiting brand for Ispo Munich. This decision was not made under pressure from/at the wish of the exhibitors. Tobias Gröber, head of the consumer goods business unit at Messe München, talks about "democratisation of the appearance" and explains the size restrictions with the experiences gained from IAA Mobility for which he is also responsible.
