Although the situation remains incredibly difficult for the entire exhibition industry, in Europe there are many reasons to be optimistic for a broader restart: More and more countries are announcing an end to coronavirus restrictions, either in part or entirely.
Within one week alone, The Netherlands, Norway and Sweden joined Denmark and the UK in announcing the lifting of restrictions, including the reopening of exhibitions. Other countries such as Spain and Greece have stayed open.

Countries that imposed new restrictions have had to endure another wave of postponements and cancellations, some for the third year running. "Yet now the balance between cautiousness in public health policy and the necessity to reopen business and industries, seems to be tipping in the latter's favour", UFI states.
