COVID-19 has brought the trade show and event marketing industry to a near standstill. While the entire industry has been hit hard, those in Las Vegas have been among the most affected. A group of industry veterans expressed a desire to find a way to help people in trade shows and events who are going through difficult times. This desire to help led to a food drive that collected canned goods and nonperishable food items for industry members in need. What's more, the industry group raised over $5,000 to purchase additional food. "We took up a collection during our regular industry-update calls, and that was the start of this effort. There's so much more that needs to be done, but it only takes a spark to get a fire going. We're hoping to bring awareness and action to the thousands who are unemployed in the event industry," said Martha Donato, founder and president of MAD Event Management LLC.
„We are extremely grateful to partner with other generous people in live events to help our industry family here in Las Vegas.“
The food drive will take place on February 13, 2021 and be for trade show and event marketing industry people by trade show and event marketing industry people. Organisations supporting this initiative include EDPA Las Vegas Chapter, Exhibitor Media Group, Freeman, Get Fresh, MAD Event Management, and Messe Düsseldorf North America.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the challenge of food insecurity to many in our industry," says EDPA
Las Vegas Chapter president Jen LaBruzza. "Our EDPA chapter is well versed in the importance of food security with our annual food drive, and we are extremely grateful for the opportunity to partner with other generous people in live events to help our industry family here in Las Vegas. It's about being able to show some love for those in our industry and say, 'We haven't forgotten about you.'"
