Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre has exceeded all expectations for its opening year. Despite only being operational for seven months due to covid settings earlier in the year, the centre has more than compensated for its slower than expected start, hosting more than 180 events during that time. "It's been wonderful to see the industry come together to ensure people can meet face-to-face", Ross Steele, general manager, stated.

"Our clients, delegates and visitors have all benefited from having that face-to-face connection and we've been so proud to help facilitate the events that have allowed this to happen; whether it's been one of the 62 conferences we have hosted, or one of many banquets, exhibitions, or smaller meetings and seminars that our team has enjoyed being a part of.
„The number of events has just blown us away – we've really hit the ground running“

"Te Pae Christchurch has achieved the following in 2022: It generated close to $45 million for the local economy, supported charity events that have raised $500,000+ and hired 287 staff. Te Pae Christchurch general manager Steele said since restrictions eased in April the team had been incredibly busy. "There's been a real pent-up demand for Christchurch as a business events destination. The number of events has just blown us away – we've really hit the ground running." Mr Steele said Te Pae Christchurch's future remains bright, as the centre heads into the new year with a solid events calendar.
