“We are convinced that companies can only benefit from a commitment to diversity and inclusion,” says Heike Mahmoud, Chief Operating Officer, CCH – Congress Center Hamburg. “Having a well-balanced combination of women and men in top positions – including individuals contributing expertise from other industries across all hierarchical levels – regularly allows us to draw on a wide range of perspectives. We can see that this greatly enhances our creative and innovative potential.”

Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH, which includes the CCH – Congress Center Hamburg division, helps its employees balance their work with their family responsibilities. For example, HMC offers a flex-time system as well as part-time and home office options, something the employees are extremely grateful for. Of course, the current rules imposed to slow the spread of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) have far-reaching consequences for operations at Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH and the CCH. “With nearly everyone working from their home office, this situation makes it even more important for us to maintain a constant dialog with our teams and support our colleagues with their specific challenges as best we can. After all, we are working towards a shared goal: The opening of the new, state-of-the-art CCH – Congress Center Hamburg!”

After nearly four years of construction and renovation work, the CCH will be one of Europe’s biggest, most advanced convention centers. With new dimensions and unprecedented functionality and flexibility, the new CCH – Congress Center Hamburg will accommodate any conceivable event format. It will offer more than 12,000 square meters each of exhibition and foyer space, and 12,000 seats in up to 50 halls and rooms. Hall 1 alone, which is under statutory protection as a historical architectural monument, offers as many as 3,000 seats, making it Hamburg’s largest venue with permanent seating. The barrier-free complex was planned and built with a strong focus on sustainability. Its operators hope to receive a Gold Certificate from the German Society for Sustainable Construction (DGNB). Situated right in the center of Hamburg, the CCH is going to be as attractive as it has always been as a world-class convention center.
